The Writer

Thank you for reading Cocktails and High Heels!

I am a journalist, covering and editing technology news for a living. This blog is an outlet for the everyday things that make life fun, and I hope it inspires you.

Background: I grew up in a small town in Rhode Island and like most 18 years olds, I had no idea what to do with my life when I graduated high school.

I became allergic to studying as soon as I became a teenager, so I didn’t have the grades for a prestigeous school and went to community college first. I started out as an art major and quickly realized that while in my small world I'm a decent artist, I'm no Rembrant. So, I made it a hobby instead of a career and switched  to clinical laboratory science. (A perfectly linear move, right?)

I worked my ass off and graduated cum laude with an associates degree in lab science, then went to Northeastern University as a pre-med student. About two weeks into the semester, during a physics class taught by a professor who was barely fluent in English, I decided to make another switch. To journalism.

What can I say? I am a pisces. I've always enjoyed writing, and my teachers over the years encouraged me to pursue it. So journalism was a natural path.

Today

I’m a full time editor and reporter for a great online technology media company, and I freelance to keep things interesting. I'm a do-it-yourself kind of girl who loves a creative project -- painting, photography, and the art of making a great cocktail.

I'm also engaged and looking forward to marrying the greatest man I've ever known, and I'm a mom to the sweetest dog on the planet; a 130-pound bullmastiff named Bella.

There are so many small things that happen every day that make life worth living. The small stuff is the good stuff, and through this blog, I'll share it all with you. Hopefully it inspires.

Cheers,
